I am a social worker with over 30 years of experience in providing psychotherapy and social work services in Hong Kong. I have now relocated to Toronto. My professional experience encompasses a range of areas, including individual and family relationship issues, psychiatric and mental health concerns, domestic violence, child abuse, probation of offenders, child custody disputes, and adult guardianship. I worked for 10 years as a medical social worker in a mental hospital, where I conducted my PhD research on the impact of adverse family relationships on mental health.
Throughout my career, I have utilized a diverse portfolio of skills and approaches, including psychoanalysis, trauma-informed counselling, reality therapy, brief therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, sex therapy, music therapy, and strength-based therapy. Additionally, I have applied Bowen Family Systems Theory, the recovery model, and positive psychology. In recent years, I have focused on using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to assist individuals and couples.
All of us face difficulties and pain at various points in our lives. When feelings of overwhelm, hopelessness, and exhaustion arise, you may find yourself feeling lonely and without support. During such times, you need a compassionate listener and companion. As a wounded healer, I have the capacity to listen, understand, and walk alongside you through these challenging moments, helping you achieve breakthroughs and personal growth.
